Biography
Since childhood I´ve been drawn to the deep, warm sound of wooden flutes, which ultimately brought me to focus on traditional Irish music and what is commonly known today as Irish flute.
From 2007 I started participating in the Irish music scene in Rome and attending several music workshops. As my skills improved I joined and collaborated with several bands and musicians. I played at concerts, sessions, weddings and other private events.
From 2012 I spent two years in Galway, a lively Irish city with a vibrant music scene, where I had the opportunity to have an in-depth study of the traditional style, as well as making acquaintance with highly respected musicians such as Mick Conneely, Harry Bradley, Steph Geremia, Gary Hastings, Frankie Gavin, Catherine McEvoy, Anders Trabjerg, Brian McGrath, Conal O Grada, Johnny “Ringo” McDonagh and so many others.
There I apprenticed to Vincenzo Di Mauro, a maker of Irish flutes who had been working in the city for many years. I learned from him how to build a wooden flute as well as how to make restorations.
Today I am married and settled in Berlin, Germany.
Here I´ve grown interested in bringing the warm sound of the wooden flute to players of metal flutes, which led to the development of my handmade headjoints.
I´ve more recently applied all the modern features I learned when making Boehm headjoint to the Irish flute.
